How to verify a dentist NPI
An NPI is a public identifier used in health care administration. It can help confirm that a dentist or dental organization has a record in CMS NPPES, but it does not prove current license status, insurance acceptance, appointment availability, or quality of care.
Start with the exact NPI
Search the NPI exactly as written. If you are comparing records across sites, use the NPI first rather than matching by name, because names and office names can be formatted in different ways.
Check the source-reported fields
- Entity type: individual provider or organization.
- Taxonomy: the dental category reported in the NPPES record.
- Practice location: the source-reported address shown for the record.
- Source date: when the public read model was last checked.
Confirm details before relying on them
Call the office or check an official source for current address, phone, services, license status, insurance participation, and whether appointments are available. MyCareRoute does not rank, recommend, or represent listed dentists.
